Television’s finest were celebrated at the 7th Royal Soapie Awards, which took place at the Heartfelt Arena in Centurion on Saturday, August 24. These prestigious awards, conceived by the award-winning actress and entrepreneur Winnie Ntshaba, continue to shine a spotlight on the exceptional talent within South Africa’s soapie industry.
The glamorous event was hosted by the dynamic duo Nomalanga Shozi and Mpho Popps, both of whom are seasoned hosts of major award shows. The Red Carpet was brought to life by TV personality Samora Mangezi, who ensured that every stylish arrival was captured in all its glory.
The night was filled with excitement as the best of the best in South African soapies were honored:
- Outstanding Lead Actor: Motlatsi Mafatshe for his role as Molefe on House of Zwide.
- Outstanding Lead Actress: Zikhona Sodlaka as Bulelwa Mxenge on Gqeberha: The Empire.
- Viewer’s Choice Best Actor: Mahlatsi Moropo for his portrayal of Letestwe Kunutu on Skeem Saam.
- Outstanding Supporting Actor: Chrispen Nyathi as Charleston on Diep City.
- Outstanding Supporting Actress: Harriet Manamela as Meikie Maputla on Skeem Saam.
- Outstanding Female Villain: Deli Malinga for her role as Mamzobe on Umkhokha: The Curse.
- Outstanding Male Villain: Mduduzi Mabaso as Mgedeza in Diep City.
- Outstanding Young Performer: Karabo Mangongwa for playing Keletso on House of Zwide.
- Outstanding Newcomer: Nefisa Mkhabela for her role as Ona on House of Zwide.
- Viewer’s Choice Best Actress: Lethabo Mekoa as Ntswaki on Skeem Saam.
