Key Responsibilities

As the SHE Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for staff and students. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of SHE Program: Overseeing the implementation and upkeep of the Safety Health and Environment program across the learning sites.
  • Training Coordination: Organizing and conducting SHE training sessions for staff members to ensure they are well-informed and compliant with SHE standards.
  • Action Plan Implementation: Executing SHE action plans to address safety and health concerns effectively.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate records and reporting on SHE activities and incidents.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Qualification: An NQF level 6 qualification (a relevant 3-year qualification with a minimum of 360 credits).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in Safety Health and Environment.

Critical Performance Areas

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Occupational Health and Safety: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of occupational health and safety.
  • SHE Legislation: In-depth knowledge of SHE legislation and its application.
  • Compensation Claims and Administration: Handling and administration of compensation claims.
  • Safety Inspections and Risk Assessments: Conducting thorough safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Reporting and SHE Committee Structures: Effective reporting and participation in SHE committee structures.
  • Incident Investigations: Conducting investigations into accidents and SHE-related incidents.
  • Health and Safety Auditing: Performing health and safety audits to ensure compliance.
