Job Purpose:

The primary role of a Warrant Officer in the Tshwane Metro Police is to ensure the efficient execution of operational duties related to policing activities. This includes taking charge of operational shifts and carrying out additional duties as required. The goal is to maintain effective service delivery across the City of Tshwane metropolitan area.

Appointment Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Grade 12
  • Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Traffic Officer under the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996).
  • Police Service Membership: Must be appointed as a member of a municipal police service as per the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act 68 of 1995).
  • Experience: A minimum of four years’ relevant working experience is required.
  • Driving Licence: A valid Code B or EB driving licence.
  • Fitness: Applicants must pass a medical and physical test as determined by the Chief of Police.
  • Criminal Record: No criminal convictions, record, or pending criminal charges (except for political activities under the previous dispensation).
  • Oath of Office: Applicants must be willing to take the Oath of Office for the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
  • Flexibility: Applicants must be willing to be deployed anywhere within Tshwane as required by departmental management.

  • Accident Response: Attend and secure accident scenes.
  • Traffic Management: Ensure the safe and free flow of traffic on public roads.
  • Compliance Supervision: Handle complaints related to animals, noise, and traffic.
  • Operational Supervision: Oversee road policing, crime prevention, municipal by-law enforcement, and escort duties within Tshwane.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional duties as required by the department.
