The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has dismissed false social media claims that grant beneficiaries will receive double payments in June 2025. The widely circulated posts falsely suggest that beneficiaries will get double payouts for the month — a rumour Sassa has firmly refuted.
“The information below is FALSE and did NOT originate from Sassa. Please ignore it and ensure you stay informed by following only official Sassa communication channels for accurate updates,” the agency stated.
No Double Grants for June 2025
According to Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi, grant payments will proceed as normal for the sixth month of the year. He warned that sharing unverified information could create unnecessary confusion and panic among the 18 million South Africans who rely on social grants.
“Before anyone can share any information pertaining to social grants, they must first verify its authenticity to avoid disseminating false information that may cause anxiety and stress to our beneficiaries,” Letsatsi said.
