Namakwa Municipality: Groen Sebenza Phase II Internship Opportunities 2024

The Groen Sebenza Phase II Programme offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build your competence, and develop your career. Funded with R300 million over the next three years, this programme aims to recruit 1050 unemployed graduates (from diploma to PhD) and place them in various organisations nationwide.

Programme Goals:

  1. Workplace-Based Learning: Provide graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience and strengthen their skills in various environmental management fields.
  2. Job Creation: Open pathways for potential permanent employment beyond the internship period.
  3. Organisational Transformation: Enhance different aspects of organisational development, including mentoring, proactive skills planning, and better response to organisational mandates and national priorities.
  4. Research and Development: Create a ‘live’ skills intelligence system to facilitate proactive planning for skills development and track the utilisation of developed skills.

Internship Opportunity: Environmental Management

Namakwa District Municipality, in partnership with The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), is calling for applications for a six-month internship in Environmental Management. This is an exciting chance to be part of a programme that not only focuses on personal and professional growth but also on making a tangible difference in the environment.

Location: Namakwa District Municipality, Springbok
Required Qualification: National Diploma in Environmental Management
Duration: 6 months
Stipend Rate: R6,082.00 per month

Requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Young, unemployed, and underemployed professionals between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Innovative, dynamic, and creative individuals with a commitment to career development in the environmental/biodiversity sector.
  • Must hold the qualifications mentioned above.

Internship Stipend Values:

  • Diploma (NQF 6): R6,082.00 per month
  • Bachelors (NQF 7): R7,359.00 per month
  • Honours (NQF 8): R8,697.00 per month
  • Masters (NQF 9): R10,035.00 per month

Candidates holding higher qualifications than the ones stated may apply; however, only the specified remuneration will be applicable.
