Position: Transport/Fleet Controller
Purpose:
The primary role of the Transport/Fleet Controller is to oversee a team of drivers, schedule their delivery routes, optimize routes, ensure truck utilization, maintain booking slots, and update relevant systems. The role also involves ensuring compliance within the transport department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of drivers and assign delivery routes.
- Optimize delivery routes for efficiency.
- Ensure maximum utilization of trucks.
- Maintain booking slots.
- Update relevant systems regularly.
- Ensure compliance with transport department policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Matric.
- Tertiary Qualification: 3 years tertiary qualification in Transport, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of route planning and optimization.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and numeracy skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of fleet management concepts, products, and services.
- Familiarity with vehicle tracking software solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong self-management practices.
- People management skills.
- Experience: 3+ years’ experience in the transport and logistics industry.
