Opportunity: DALRRD 3x Studentships in Meat Science

ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) is seeking highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic individuals to join our team in Irene, Pretoria, for a three-year fixed-term contract as part of our DALRRD 3x Studentships in Meat Science.

Key Performance Areas

As a student in the Meat Science program, you will:

  • Contribute to research projects.
  • Assist in coordinating work activities and supervise allocated resources, if applicable.
  • Draw up monthly reports regarding research progress and data statistics.
  • Plan and manage your own work activities, utilizing and maintaining facilities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct research support, diagnostics, and other services, including data collection, capturing, processing, and basic analysis.
  • Provide verbal and written reports on work activities and results.
  • Adhere to quality standards and assist in preparing presentations.
  • Assist in optimizing equipment, processes, and systems.
  • Provide input in the optimization of new technologies and technical services.
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety regulations.

Requirements

To be eligible for this studentship, you must have:

  • A Diploma in Animal Science or a BSc./MSc. in Animal or Food Science applied to Meat Science.
  • A willingness to register for an MSc. or Ph.D. in Animal Sciences or Food Sciences applied to Meat Science.
  • Proven knowledge and/or experience in animal sciences or food science-related disciplines.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to respect and maintain confidentiality.
