Job Description:

  • Complete apprenticeship program with both theoretical and practical experience.
  • Involved in the servicing, repair, and installation of various electrical equipment.
  • Conduct maintenance work on electrical equipment, including testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and replacing defective parts.
  • Assist with new and upgraded installations of building electrical wiring and AC 3-phase motors.
  • Occasionally perform miscellaneous legal ad hoc tasks as instructed by the Electrician or Maintenance Team Leader.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist with breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Assist with testing and commissioning of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment and power tools.
  • Ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses, and safety hazards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum education Grade 12 with a post-matric qualification (N3 Electrical).
  • Basic awareness of SANS 10142 wiring code.
  • Awareness of Merseta apprenticeship requirements.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Basic awareness of OHSAct.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team and be deadline-driven.
