The ARC-Small Grains (ARC-SG) division, located in Bethlehem, focuses on the development and improvement of small grain crops. To strengthen its team, ARC-SG is offering five internship positions in Germplasm Development for Small Grain on a three-year fixed-term contract.
Internship Opportunity: Germplasm Development for Small Grain
This exciting internship program offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates to contribute to impactful research projects, gain hands-on experience, and develop their skills in a dynamic scientific environment.
Key Performance Areas:
- Research and Technical Activities: Engage in various research and technical tasks across multiple projects.
- Experimental Planning and Coordination: Assist in planning and conducting glasshouse, field, and laboratory experiments.
- Data Management: Perform data collection, capturing, and basic analysis under supervision.
- Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the agricultural sector.
- Technology Transfer: Contribute to the successful transfer of scientific knowledge through report writing and presentations.
- Technical Support: Provide support to research staff and optimize resource utilization.
- Equipment Maintenance: Utilize and maintain research facilities, apparatus, and equipment.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A 3-year National Diploma in Agriculture, Biotechnology, Crop Production, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, or related fields.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of maintaining research equipment and infrastructure, understanding basic research principles, proficiency in MS Office.
- Soft Skills: Strong willingness to learn, good verbal and written communication skills.
