Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Sales Representative, your core responsibilities will include:
- Meeting Sales Targets: Ensure that the required sales volumes from new and existing customers are met.
- Profitability Management: Attain the required margin through price adjustments and product profitability strategies.
- Customer Support: Provide product, sales, and technical support to customers.
- Market Coverage: Achieve the necessary targeted call rate to new and existing customers.
- Debt Resolution: Assist in resolving and clearing outstanding overdue accounts in the debtor’s book.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Work with customer services, operations, debtors, and other departments to optimize operational productivity and performance.
- Project Implementation: Implement projects based on business needs.
- Administrative Duties: Prepare professional sales reports, respond to customer inquiries, maintain electronic records, implement price adjustments, and update the customer database.
- Market Reporting: Report on market activity involving customers, competitors, and other stakeholders.
- Safety: Operate sales tools in a safe and responsible manner.
Required Competencies and Abilities
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following competencies and abilities:
- Qualifications: An appropriate marketing/commercial diploma qualification; a degree would be advantageous.
- Sales and Presentation Skills: Strong selling and presentation skills.
- Technical Background: Ability to read technical drawings, understand processes, and materials.
- Experience: Approximately 5 years of sales experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Communication Skills: Professional communication and people skills at all organizational levels.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with good commercial acumen.
- Passion for Sales: A passion for selling and generating new business.
- Problem-Solving Skills: A result-oriented problem solver with proven numeracy and computer literacy (MS Office).
- Industry Experience: Aluminum technical sales experience will be an added advantage.
