Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the DSI-CSIR Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Be enrolled or intend to enroll full-time in a postgraduate program in one of the specified thematic areas at a public university in South Africa in 2025.
- Not be receiving any other bursary funding.
- Meet the age and academic requirements for each level of study:
- Honours applicants: Must be under 28 years old with a minimum average of 65% in major subjects during the final year of undergraduate study.
- Masters applicants: Must be under 30 years old with a minimum average of 65% in Honours or final year of a 4-year degree.
- Doctoral applicants: Must be under 32 years old with a minimum average of 65% at Masters level and have supervisor endorsement.
