ABOUT THE AMSOL BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

AMSOL is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. Bursaries will be awarded in the following fields of study:

  • Bachelor of Marine Engineering
  • Bachelor of Nautical Science
  • Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (Desk Officer)

BENEFITS OF THE AMSOL BURSARY PROGRAMME

The AMSOL bursary covers tuition fees as a minimum and may also include textbooks and accommodation, depending on the availability of funds and the applicant’s personal circumstances. Students must note that they will be responsible for covering their own registration fees.

Upon graduation, successful candidates may be required to take up employment with AMSOL, subject to the company’s operational needs.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AMSOL BURSARY

To be considered for the AMSOL bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Have completed Matric or currently be in Matric
  • Achieve a minimum of 60% (Level 5) in English, Mathematics, and Physical Science in Matric
  • Be planning to study one of the specified qualifications in 2025
  • Be enrolled or intend to enroll at a recognised and accredited University or SAMSA-accredited training facility
  • Not be in receipt of any other bursary funding for 2025

  • Grade 11 final report and latest Matric results (if currently in Matric)
  • Matric certificate (if completed)
  • Most recent academic transcripts (if currently studying)
  • Proof of application at a tertiary institution for 2025

  • Motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
