AFGRI is offering an exciting apprenticeship training program across various branches in South Africa. This opportunity is for dynamic, self-motivated individuals with the necessary technical abilities who wish to qualify as Artisans. The programme will provide mentorship, informal training, and on-the-job development in multidisciplinary teams.
Programme Details
- Duration: 3 years of in-service training
- Qualification: Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic
- Probation Period: First 6 months
- Training:
- Practical Training Institute phases
- Distance learning for N subjects (if needed)
- Classes on Saturdays (if needed)
- Product Training at the John Deere Training Facility in Boksburg
- Internal training by AFGRI Specialists
Training Costs
- No training costs involved if passed
- Failed training must be redone at the apprentice’s own time and cost
- Bound by a 3-year contract with a “work-back” period
Duties of the Apprentice
- Training to be a Mechanic/Technician
- Repair and maintenance of related equipment
- Stock control
- Customer service
- General workplace tasks
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
- Communication Skills

- Computer Literacy
- N2 subjects:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Diesel Trade Theory
- One of the following: Industrial Electronics, Engineering/Technical Drawing, Motor Trade Theory
- Matric Certificate with:
- Mathematics (Not Literacy)
- Technical Mathematics (Not Literacy)
- Physical Science
- Technical Science
- Engineering Graphics and Design
