Background
The GPL’s constitutional mandate includes creating laws that address provincial needs, overseeing the Executive to ensure service delivery, promoting cooperative governance for effective decision-making, and ensuring public participation so that the views of the people of Gauteng are incorporated in governance processes. Their mission is to be a modern, transformative legislature that fosters public pride and confidence in democracy and enhances service delivery to the people of Gauteng.
Purpose of the Internship Programme
The objective of the GPL Internship Programme is to help graduates and individuals with qualifications gain workplace experience, contributing to their skill development as per the Skills Development Act. This programme is a 24-month fixed-term contract, providing opportunities in various business areas.
Internship Opportunities and Requirements
- Communication – Reference No 01062024 (2 positions)
- Preferred Qualification: Matric and National Diploma or B-Degree in Media Studies, Communication Science, Graphic Design, or Public Relations. A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- Intern: Transversal Mainstreaming – Reference No 02062024
- Preferred Qualification: Matric and Degree and/or Diploma in Commerce, Public Finance and Administration, or Gender, Disability, or Youth Studies related disciplines.
- Intern: Gauteng Speakers Forum – Reference No 03062024
- Preferred Qualification: Matric and Degree and/or Diploma or equivalent in Law, Political Sciences, Finance, or Public Administration.
- Intern: Sport and Recreation – Reference No 04062024
- Preferred Qualifications: Matric and Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Sports, Sports Management, Sports Coaching, Recreation, Exercise Science, or any other relevant field.

Compulsory Requirements
- Applicants must be South African citizens aged 18-35.
- Preference will be given to people with disabilities, Coloured, White, and Indian applicants to ensure diversity.
- No previous criminal convictions or pending cases.
- Applicants must not have been employed in the field of the advertised post before and must not have participated in an Internship Programme.
- Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
