Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Dispensary Support Learner to join their team. The main purpose of this learnership is to employ learners who are capable of completing the learner basic pharmacist assistant course. This programme will equip learners with an understanding of the major areas related to the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing, promoting quality on-the-job learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
  • Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
  • Provide information to individuals to promote health.
  • Assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
  • Report low or out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager.
  • Receive dispensary stock according to the company’s SOP.
  • Assist with unpacking, merchandising stock, and cleaning dispensary and OTC shelves approved by the responsible pharmacist.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
  • Ensure accurate picking, packing, labelling, and checking of medication, being aware of common dosages and important drug interactions.
  • Ensure all medications are checked for accuracy by a pharmacist and signed by a pharmacist.
  • Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports and appointments as requested by the dispensary manager.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics (HG) and (Physical Science or Life Science).
  • Must have obtained at least an average of 50%.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in English and a second language (Read, write, and speak).
  • Time management, deadline-driven, able to handle pressure, attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, customer service focus, problem-solving, team player, conflict management, leadership by example, accountability, professional conduct, trustworthiness, and honesty.
  • Computer and numerical skills.
