Internship Details
Designation: Internship: Infrastructure
Location: Old Mutual Building, 75 Helen Joseph Street
Remuneration: R9 531,54 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (NQF level 4) plus a Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
- Additional Qualification: An Honours Degree would be an advantage.
- Residency: Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
Primary Function:
The intern will be responsible for measuring quantities when Interim Payment Certificates are prepared and monitoring invoices regarding claims from the Implementing Agent.
Key Learning Areas:
- Infrastructure Construction Management: Manage activities relating to infrastructure construction in accordance with the City’s policies and guidelines.
- Reporting: Prepare quarterly and monthly reports on transport infrastructure construction projects.
- Financial Monitoring: Monitor the implementation of financial controls and procedures and provide information to support financial planning sequences.
- Quality Control: Ensure quality deliverables and formulate the scope of work for projects.
- Design Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret design and detailed drawings from architects and other engineers.
- Cost Monitoring: Monitor costs to ensure deliverables are completed within the stipulated budget.
- Skills Development: Enhance report writing and presentation skills.
- Progress Tracking: Assist in ensuring deliverables are completed within specified timelines.
- Performance Monitoring: Ensure progress is being earned for the expected cost.
- Risk Management: Proactively manage foreseen project risks as necessary.
