Purpose of the Job
The primary responsibility of the Procurement Officer is to provide essential supply chain management services to the FSCA. You will play a critical role in managing procurement processes, assisting in tender management, and liaising with departments and suppliers to ensure smooth operational workflows.
Key Performance Areas
As a Procurement Officer, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and processing requisitions from various departments.
- Requesting, receiving, managing, and evaluating supplier quotations.
- Preparing purchase orders and ensuring they are approved at the appropriate level before placement.
- Receiving goods delivered by suppliers and ensuring proper delivery to relevant departments.
- Assisting in tender management processes.
- Liaising with Senior Procurement Officers, Tender Administrators, FSCA departments, and suppliers.
Other Key Competencies
To excel in this role, you must possess:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- The ability to organize and liaise effectively with people at all levels.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage assigned projects efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Requirements: A Matric Certificate plus a post-matric qualification in Commerce, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, or an equivalent field.
- Experience: Previous experience in supply chain management is an added advantage.
