What the CASA Bursary Offers
The CASA Bursary Programme for 2025 is designed to support South African students who are pursuing chiropractic studies at the following institutions:
- Durban University of Technology (DUT): 4-year Bachelor of Health Sciences in Chiropractic (BHSc) followed by a Master of Health Sciences in Chiropractic (MHSc).
- University of Johannesburg (UJ): 4-year Bachelor of Health Sciences in Chiropractic followed by a Master of Health Sciences in Chiropractic.
These bursaries aim to assist students in their 4th, 5th, or 6th year of study, helping them to focus on their education and future careers without the financial burden.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the CASA Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship.
- Enrollment in one of the chiropractic programs listed above at DUT or UJ.
- Currently in your 4th, 5th, or 6th year of study.
- Active membership with CASA (Join the CASA Student Member Benefits Programme here if you haven’t already).
How to Apply
Applying for the CASA Bursary is straightforward, but attention to detail is crucial. Here’s how you can submit your application:
- Online Application:

- Required Documentation:
- A recent photo of yourself.
- Full academic record.
- Proof of registration from your institution.
- Two reference letters: one from a staff member at your institution (preferably the Head of Department) and one from a qualified CASA member. Note: CASA council members cannot write these references.
- A one-page biosketch detailing your contributions to the chiropractic profession, including membership in relevant bodies, participation in institutional or community activities, your motivations for choosing chiropractic, and your career aspirations.
- A choice between an interview or a short 15-minute video presentation on “Why me?” The video should include your reasons for applying, personal statement, and how the bursary will help you achieve your goals (maximum 1GB zip file).
- Document Specifications:
- Submit documents in PDF format, each less than 5 MB.
- Ensure documents are scanned or clear photo copies.
