Purpose of the Job
The Electronic Technician Intern will assist with the installation and maintenance of electronic systems, including PLCs, SCADA, AC/DC drives, and plant instrumentation. The intern will also support repairs and modifications to plant equipment, aiming to maintain machine availability and contribute to production targets. They will work on both scheduled and unscheduled machinery maintenance tasks.
Key Performance Areas
- Assist electricians with installations, inspections, fault diagnosis, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical or electronic systems, wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Support general electronic work and preparation tasks.
- Help with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, and checking deliveries.
- Contribute to electronic repairs and modifications.
- Assist in identifying hazards, defects, and necessary adjustments for safety compliance.
- Communicate with the line manager and other team members, completing tasks as assigned within the agreed timeframe.
- Use initiative to fulfill responsibilities within the scope of work.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and procedural regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and worksheets related to tasks.
- Report any issues that could impact operations, health, or safety.
Qualifications Required
- S4 / National Diploma in Electronic Engineering or Process Instrumentation in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- A trade test qualification is advantageous.

- Basic knowledge of electronic circuits.
- Familiarity with plant instrumentation.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical diagrams.
- Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and the use of hand/power tools.
- Ability to use test meters and diagnostic tools.
