How To Apply to the Western Cape College of Nursing
One Year Higher Certificate in Nursing (R169)
To be eligible for the Higher Certificate in Nursing, prospective candidates must meet the following minimum admission requirements. For matriculants from 2008, the compulsory subjects and minimum rating scale are as follows:
- First Additional Language (English): code 3
- Home Language: code 3
- Mathematics: code 2 or Mathematical Literacy: code 3
- Life Science: code 3 or Physical Science: code 2
- Minimum total score of 24
Note: The results of only six subjects are used to calculate the APS, excluding Life Orientation.
Bachelor of Nursing & Midwifery (R174)
Prospective candidates for the Bachelor of Nursing & Midwifery must meet the following minimum admission requirements. Compulsory subjects and minimum rating scale are as follows:
- First Additional Language (English): code 4
- Home Language: code 4
- Mathematics: code 4 or Mathematical Literacy: code 5
- Life Science: code 4 or Physical Science: code 4
- Minimum total APS score of 27
- Minimum matriculation National Senior Certificate with Bachelor endorsement.
Diploma in General Nursing (R171)
For the Diploma in General Nursing, prospective candidates must meet the following minimum admission requirements. Compulsory subjects and minimum rating scale are as follows:
- First Additional Language (English): code 4
- Home Language: code 4
- Mathematics: code 3 or Mathematical Literacy: code 4
- Life Science: code 4
- Minimum total APS score of 24
