The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) invites ambitious South African graduates to apply for its Internship Programme for 2024/2025. This prestigious programme offers a unique opportunity for graduates to gain invaluable experience in international relations and public administration while contributing to the nation’s foreign policy objectives.

Cadet Programme (2025-2027)

The Cadet Programme is a 24-month initiative designed to equip young professionals with essential skills in diplomacy, governance, and international relations. Successful applicants will work at the O R Tambo Building in Pretoria, earning a stipend of R7,450.63 per month.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: NQF Level 7 in any of the following fields:
    • International Relations
    • African Studies
    • Political Science
    • Economics
    • Law
    • International Trade and Investment
    • Political Economy
    • Development Studies
    • Development Economics
    • Public Governance/Administration
  • Age: 18 to 35 years at the closing date
  • Citizenship: South African

Competencies: Candidates should have strong interpersonal, communication, and research skills, with a deep understanding of South Africa’s foreign policy, international trade, and multilateralism.

Competencies: Successful applicants must demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
