The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) invites ambitious South African graduates to apply for its Internship Programme for 2024/2025. This prestigious programme offers a unique opportunity for graduates to gain invaluable experience in international relations and public administration while contributing to the nation’s foreign policy objectives.
Cadet Programme (2025-2027)
The Cadet Programme is a 24-month initiative designed to equip young professionals with essential skills in diplomacy, governance, and international relations. Successful applicants will work at the O R Tambo Building in Pretoria, earning a stipend of R7,450.63 per month.
Requirements:
- Qualification: NQF Level 7 in any of the following fields:
- International Relations
- African Studies
- Political Science
- Economics
- Law
- International Trade and Investment
- Political Economy
- Development Studies
- Development Economics
- Public Governance/Administration
- Age: 18 to 35 years at the closing date
- Citizenship: South African
Competencies: Candidates should have strong interpersonal, communication, and research skills, with a deep understanding of South Africa’s foreign policy, international trade, and multilateralism.

DIRCO is also offering a 24-month General Internship Programme for graduates in various disciplines. Interns will be based at the O R Tambo Building in Pretoria, with a monthly stipend of R7,450.63.

- Tourism & Hospitality Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Records Management/Information Science
- Graphic Design & Communications
- Human Resource Management
- Public Administration
- Age: 18 to 35 years at the closing date

Competencies: Successful applicants must demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
