Church Robbery in Booysens Park: Armed Suspects Rob 50 Congregants

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Chatty has launched an urgent investigation following a terrifying armed robbery at a church in Gallant Street, Greenfields, Booysens Park, on the evening of Monday, 5 May 2025.

Five Armed Men Storm Church During Service

At approximately 18:30, five armed and masked suspects entered the church while about 50 congregants were gathered. The assailants robbed attendees of their cellphones, wallets, and personal valuables at gunpoint.

In a shocking twist, the robbers fled the scene using the church priest’s white Toyota RAV4. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Chatty 5 and has since been taken for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

SAPS Urges Public to Come Forward

Detectives from SAPS Chatty are appealing to the public to assist in identifying the suspects.
